For this calculation the room dimensions as following
Room Size = 10’ x 10’
Door Size = 3’ x 7’
Window Size = 5’ x 4’
Wall Thickness = 9”
Wall Height =10’
Brick Size = 9” x 4” x 3”
For easy calculation we can separate the walls into two portions depends on length one we can take as a long wall another one we can take as short wall.
Brickwork Volume Calculations
Total Length of Long Wall =20’
Total Length of Short Wall = 17’
Total Length of Wall = 37’
Volume of Total Wall = 37’*10’*0.75’ = 277.5 cubic feet
Here there will be no brickwork in place of door and window so we have to subtract the volume of door and window from the total volume.
Volume of Door = 3’*7’*0.75’ =15.75 cubic feet
Volume of Window = 5’*4’*0.75’ = 15 cubic feet
Volume of wall where only brick work = Volume of Total Wall – [Volume of door and Window]
= 277.5 – (15.75 + 15)
= 246.75 cubic feet
Number of Bricks Required Calculations
One Brick size with cement mortar = 9.5” x 4.5” x 3.5”
Volume of One brick with cement mortar = 149.625 cubic inch
= 149.625/1728 [ to covert cubic inch to cubic feet]
One brick volume with mortar = 0.086589 cubic feet
Number of bricks required = Volume of wall where only brick work / One brick volume with mortar
Now = 246.75 / 0.086589
= 2849.684 = 2850 nos
3% Breakage = 86
Finally, Total number of bricks required = 2936 nos
